How feats work

Every feat is checked as its boss's page words it, and every number below is the one the server checks by.

What a feat is

A feat is one hard, specific thing done to one boss: killing it so many times, killing it once in a particular way, or killing it so many times in one run. Each boss has a few, listed on its page with what each asks and how many players hold it.

A feat is checked when a kill of its boss is settled, and earned there and then: the fight's line in your history names it, and it is yours for good, listed on your profile with the day you earned it. A feat is worth points, counted on your profile and on the leaderboards, and nothing else.

Tiers and points

Every feat is in one of the tiers below, set by how long the strongest player, at combat 99 in the best gear the feat allows, would expect to spend on it, failed attempts included. A tier is named for how far a deed is told.

A boast 1 point each · 30 feats
A tale 2 points each · 17 feats
A song 3 points each · 16 feats
A saga 4 points each · 16 feats
A chronicle 5 points each · 7 feats

You complete a tier by holding every feat in it, and completing one is told in the world's chat. A feat added later can join a tier you have completed, and your profile then shows what is left; completing it again is told again.

What a feat asks

One of three things:

  • Kills: the boss killed so many times. Every kill you have made of it counts, those from before feats began included, so a count you are already past is earned at your next kill of the boss.
  • A kill: one kill, sometimes in so many rounds or fewer, or without taking damage, which means that no hit at you lands.
  • A run: so many kills in one run, every one of them under the feat's terms. So many in a row without taking damage counts the kills in a row within the run that no hit landed in: a kill where one lands starts that count again, and the run goes on.

And any of the terms below. A kill is judged on what you wore, carried and had running when its fight began, so changing gear during a fight changes nothing about it. The Feats view, under Character, says how far you are with each feat, the run you are on, and what to change to try one: what you wear, the potions you carry and an elixir running.

  • Nothing worn above combat N: nothing you wear, in any slot, needs more than combat N, jewellery and monsters' drops included: the level each item shows as "Needs combat". Nothing worn means nothing in any slot.
  • Unenchanted: nothing you wear is enchanted.
  • Unhealed: no potion carried into the fight, and on a run, no potion drunk and no bandage used between its kills either. An elixir may be running.
  • Nothing drunk: unhealed, and no elixir running either.
  • By the blade, the bow or the staff: attacking and defending as melee, ranged or magic. You attack as your weapon's style, and defend as the style most of your armour is, or as your weapon's with no armour on.

A feat's name says what it asks. Regular is a kill count, a number is a run of that many, short work is a kill in so many rounds, and untouched is without taking damage. No feat asks for a combat level: every one can be done at combat 99.

Runs, and what spoils one

A run is kills in a row against one boss. It goes on while each fight starts within 120 seconds of the last kill, and losing, fleeing or setting out on a walk ends it.

Every kill of a run counts toward a feat. Anything at any kill that breaks the feat's terms, such as a piece worn above its cap, a potion left in the bag, a potion drunk or a bandage used between kills, or an elixir still running, spoils the run for that feat until the run starts again. The run itself goes on, and still counts toward your longest run.
